Web Design Final

The final project for my web design class was to construct an exploratory website in flash. It had to contain 20 interactive elements.
I drew the entire scene with a tablet, then broke the file into (more) layers and exported the elements be animated in flash. Between the illustration, animation and scripting I have about 60 hours into the project.
All of the projects I've done this semester have been challenging. The software and coding related to web (Flash, Actionscript, HTML, CSS) don't allow for simple artistic expression. When working in After Effects or Photoshop, I can come up with an idea and seamlessly bring it to life. With HTML and Flash, I am constantly making comprimises due to the limitations of the software and/or code. Sometimes it's downright unpredictable and I waste hours trying random things until it works the way I want it to. I admit some of this is the "nut behind the keyboard" and that there are standards for the web, but things like DIV or the Flash workflow could be simplified greatly.
